Diane Tims Personal Page

Diane was born in Shoreham-by-Sea, Sussex, England and trained at West Sussex College of Art & Design. She has worked as a fine artist for the last 15 years, exhibiting mostly in London. She now lives and works in North Oxfordshire.

The human body fascinates Diane: "the way it moves and the way it can be used to communicate". She is particularly inspired by dancers, who dedicate their lives to the expression of ideas through controlled movements of the body. "I try to capture the essence of their motion and to balance power and energy with sensitivity and grace."

She sculpts straight from life, often taking inspiration from photographs of some of the great expressive dancers such as the Swiss born dancer, mime and dance therapist Trudi Schoop.

Diane has created sculpture in stone, papier mache and other media but prefers to work in clay, using a range of traditional and customised sculpting tools. Her work is cast and reproduced in small limited editions, usually fifteen, in bronze and also in bronze or iron resin.
