John Penrose Personal Page

John discovered an aptitude for sculpture nine years ago following retirement from a business career and has been developing his skills since then, including attending courses at Edinburgh College of Art, Brunel University and West Dean College.

His creativity has been focused primarily on animals, birds & figurative subjects in bronze resin and stone. John has recently undertaken commissions in both media and is now inspired to explore more abstract ideas, with a particular interest in capturing the movement of dancers.

John comes from an artistic family, including the famous surrealist Sir Roland Penrose, and is a member of Surrey Sculpture Society, Oxford Sculptors and the Bicester Sculpture Group. He has exhibited widely with these and other groups and has sold his work extensively.

John's work can be found in private collections across the country. His depictions of animals, dancers and birds have proved very popular with a wide range of clients and a number of editions are now close to selling out.
